Building Fire Safety Competency Training

We were contacted by Sisk who were looking for some help in creating an engaging piece of training that could be used across the UK business to provide a level of competence for their staff. This was a critical project as it related to the evolving requirements around the Building Safety Act post the Grenfell fire disaster.

The Sisk team wanted to create an animated video that would be used to outline the impact that the disaster has on the construction sector and the business response to learn and prevent future issues from recurring.

Through close collaboration with the Sisk team, a storyboard was explored and scripts developed that would take the viewer on a journey that was linked to the Golden Thread, a critical concept from Dame Hackett’s report on the disaster. That concept became the theme of the animation and was used to translate the timeline of events that led to the disaster and the subsequent events of the enquiry and its findings.

The animation used a mix of 2D animated sequences, typographically led infographics and was interspersed with key external videos and newsreel footage, resulting in a highly impactful piece that grabbed attention. We commissioned a voiceover artist that narrated the accompanying script throughout the video.

The final animation, which was over 30-minutes in total length, was broken down into individual sub-modules and converted into SCORM training files for integration into the software deployment solution.
